Sylvia Earle featured on Radio Davos podcast in lead-up to 2026 World Economic Forum
“We’re just at the beginning of the greatest era of exploration, of opportunity, that there’s ever been, as long as we can maintain the habitability of the Earth first,” said ocean explorer Dr. Sylvia Earle in a recent interview with Robin Pomeroy, host of Radio Davos.
Sylvia recently spoke to the Radio Davos podcast, ahead of this year’s annual meeting of the World Economic Forum – “Blue Davos” – which will focus on the vital role of the world’s water systems. Sylvia’s rallying cry to those attending is “Choose now!”
A nonagenarian, world-renowned NOAA scientist, and TED Prize winner who has explored the ocean worldwide, Sylvia was one of the first people to adopt scuba diving equipment in the US. To further ocean research, she then pioneered submersibles in the ocean. And, “Her Deepness,” as she is known to all who have worked with her, has fostered a global network of marine protected areas called Hope Spots, through her MissionBlue organization.
Working beyond borders and ideologies, Sylvia has advised heads of state on marine protection legislation and water crisis response. Her presentations from stages worldwide, addressing adult and student communities alike, offer hope, inspiration, and wise counsel on how to take the steps needed now that can save our beautiful Blue Planet.
